In practice, that means our responsibility for the shipment ends once the cartons are loaded onto the vessel at Chattogram (Chittagong) port. Everything before that point — production, carton packing, inland transport, port handling, and loading — is included in the FOB price on your proforma invoice. Everything after that point — ocean freight, marine insurance, destination port charges, and import duty — is arranged and paid for by the buyer.
This is the standard export term for containerized paper cone shipments out of Bangladesh, and it's the basis every proforma invoice we issue is quoted on. Risk in the cargo also transfers at that same point — once the cartons are on board, the shipment is the buyer's (or their insurer's) responsibility for the ocean leg, which is why buyers who want the cargo covered arrange marine insurance from their side rather than through us.

What You Arrange vs What We Arrange
FOB draws a clear line at the ship's rail. Each side is responsible for a distinct set of costs and paperwork on their side of that line:
- Production to your specification
- Carton packing and container loading
- Inland transport to Chattogram port
- Port handling and loading onto the vessel
- Commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin, and NBR export declaration
- Booking the ocean freight (or your forwarder does)
- Marine insurance, if you want the cargo covered in transit
- Destination port charges and customs clearance
- Import duty and any local tax at your border
- Inland transport from your port to your mill

Common Destination Ports
Chattogram (Chittagong) is our port of export. The most common destination ports for our buyers are Nhava Sheva and Mumbai for shipments to India, and Karachi for shipments to Pakistan — all served by regular container line schedules from Chattogram, with typical transit times your freight forwarder can confirm at time of booking. The documentation and FOB terms are the same regardless of destination port — what changes port to port is the freight cost, transit time, and which local port charges and duty rates apply on arrival. FOB vs CIF for Cost Planning
The FOB price is the cost of the cones at the port of export — it does not include freight or insurance. CIF (Cost, Insurance and Freight) is FOB plus the cost of ocean freight plus marine insurance to your destination port. When you compare quotes, make sure you're comparing the same basis: a FOB quote and a CIF quote for the same order are not directly comparable without adding freight and insurance to the FOB figure first.
