Planning a bulk paper cone order
For a spinning mill running continuous production, paper cones are a recurring procurement item. Whether you are placing your first import order or looking to consolidate your cone supply into one reliable source, the questions before a bulk order are consistent across every market: what is the minimum quantity, how long does it take, what do you need to lock in before production starts, and what documentation comes with the shipment.
This guide answers those questions for mills sourcing paper cones from Aziz Packaging Limited in Bangladesh.
What to lock in before production starts
Rushing into a bulk order without locking in the right specification is the most expensive mistake in paper cone procurement. A full container of cones that does not suit your machine or your yarn is not a cheap mistake.
Lock these in before production begins:
1. Taper angle
4°20′ or 5°57′. This must match your machine specification exactly. Confirm by checking your winding machine manual or sending us the machine make and model. See the 4°20′ vs 5°57′ guide if you need to determine the right angle for your setup.
2. Cone dimensions
Height, base diameter and nose diameter. These must fit your machine holder. Small deviations cause loading jams and doffing problems at scale.
3. Surface finish
Smooth, velvet or embossed — matched to your yarn type and winding process. The wrong finish causes slippage and broken ends across the whole order.
4. Paper weight (GSM)
Affects wall behaviour under tension and survival through doffing and transit. Confirm the paper weight the supplier uses rather than assuming.
5. Sample approval
Run an approved sample on your own winder before production starts. Compare stop rates on those positions against your current cones over the same period. Only approve for bulk once the sample runs cleanly.
Skipping sample approval on a bulk order is the one step mills most commonly regret. For a full pre-order checklist see the yarn cone quality checklist.
Minimum order quantity
MOQ for paper cones depends on the specification, surface finish and production method. We do not publish a fixed MOQ because it varies with the order.
What we can say: we work with spinning mills on both trial quantities and full production orders. If you are new to sourcing from us, we recommend starting with a trial quantity — enough to run on your machines for a meaningful period — before moving to a bulk commitment.
Share your requirement (taper, finish, dimensions, monthly consumption) and we will confirm the MOQ for your specific order with your quote.
Lead time
Lead time has two components: production time and freight time.
Production time depends on order quantity and current schedule. We confirm the production lead time when we quote, based on your specific order.
Freight time depends on your destination port. From Chattogram, typical sea freight transit times run from a few days (South Asian ports) to two to three weeks (Southeast Asia, East Africa) to longer for more distant destinations. Your freight forwarder will give you the most accurate current transit estimate.
For planning purposes: build in enough buffer that your stock does not run out while the next order is in transit. Most mills running on imported cones hold 4–8 weeks of safety stock.
Export documentation
A standard export shipment from Aziz Packaging Limited includes:
- Commercial invoice
- Packing list
- Bill of lading
- Certificate of origin
Additional documents required by your country of import are your clearing agent’s responsibility to advise on. HS code for paper yarn cones is 4822.10. For more on the export process see sourcing paper cones from Bangladesh and the Bangladesh paper cone exporter guide.
What consistent bulk supply looks like
The goal of a bulk supply relationship is not just a good first order. It is the same cone, lot after lot, so your winding floor stays predictable.
For that, the spec lock and sample approval before the first order do most of the work. Once those are set and the first bulk order runs cleanly, reordering is straightforward — same spec, same documentation, same route.
If something is off in a subsequent lot, direct supplier communication resolves it without a long chain. That is a structural advantage of sourcing from a manufacturer you have a direct relationship with.
